• •Most Japanese used cars come through auctions. Each car has an auction sheet with a grade (e.g. 4 or 4.5) and a diagram of scratches and dents — we share it with you before you pay.
• •Cars are right-hand drive, like Tanzania, and usually low-mileage thanks to Japan’s strict road-worthiness checks.
• •A car 8 years or older attracts an extra 15% over-age excise duty at TRA — often a younger car costs less overall.
• •Engines above 1000cc pay 5% excise, above 2000cc pay 10% — engine size matters for tax.
• •Shipping to Dar es Salaam port typically takes 4–8 weeks, then clearing and registration.
